Fly fishing hopper patterns on the White River and Norfork River is most productive in the summer months. Our hopper season usually begins in mid June and can last well into October, with July, August and September being the prime months. There is a good number of terrestrials on the banks of both the White and Norfork rivers. Numerous hopper patterns work well here. Tailwater fisheries require smaller flies, but that's definitely not the case during our hopper season. The hopper patterns I use range in sizes 10 to 4 and are very productive. There is nothing like watching a 24" brown trout swim up to take a size 6 foam hopper.

9-29-10: Dean, a repeat client from Kansas, landed this brown while fly fishing hopper patterns on the White River.
10-28-10: Terry enjoyed another great day on the White River!! We were able to fish hoppers and droppers for most of the day. He landed a good number of very nice bows, a respectable cuttie and this nice brown on the surface!
10-30-10: I've guided Richard and his wife Margaret for 7 or 8 years now and always look forward to seeing them on my schedule. They landed some very nice bows during the morning while fishing hopper patterns on the White River but watching this brown take the fly off the surface was a real treat!
