Fly fishing on the White River and Norfork River doesn't stop during the winter months. In fact, some of the locals and most of the guides would consider it to be their favorite time of year to fish. The odds of hooking a big fish significantly increase this time of year, and there are less people on the water.
This is the best time of year to get away from the crowds. Hunting season has started so even the locals are off the water and in the woods. Most tourist are staying home, because they don't realize how good the fishing can be during the mild Arkansas winters! Most days, you'll have the river to yourself.
Less crowds means less fishing pressure. With less fishing pressure, the bigger fish don't spook as easily and become a little less selective over what they eat. Combine this with a good shad kill and you've got the best fishing on the planet.
